Group Getaways Made Easy at Smokey Hollow

When we first purchased Smokey Hollow, we weren’t totally sure who we were catering to. It didn’t take long for guests to tell us loud and clear: Smokey Hollow is made for getting together. Over the years, we’ve hosted reunions, intimate weddings, work retreats, and weekends with friends and family, and the one thing they all have in common is how easy it is to relax, connect, and have fun together.
Why Smokey Hollow works so well for groups
From the front, Smokey Hollow looks unassuming, just a cozy row of motel rooms visible from the road, but the backyard is pretty unexpected. Thanks to Smokey's previous owners, it's a spacious yard filled with now mature trees and perennial gardens and complete with a heated pool overlooking the yard. And one of my favorite spots at Smokey is the bonfire area surrounded by trees and sparkly lights.
The resort includes 15 units and can host up to 47 guests (based on two per bed). To top it off, there’s The Pavilion Gathering Space, a large room where everyone can come together, rain, shine, or snow.
We offer a mix of rooms, suites, and cabins so everyone can choose a space that suits their needs, whether you’re a couple, family, or solo traveler. The entire property can even be booked exclusively so your group can get the place to yourselves.

You don’t have to wait for summer to have a great group trip. Fall, winter, and spring are amazing times to be in Clear Lake Country with fewer crowds, cozy vibes, and more time to gather together.

What a weekend in the off-season can look like
Friday: Arrive, settle in, and light up the Pavilion fireplace. Throw pizzas in the oven, snacks on the tables, and use the ice machine for your favorite beverages. Watch the game, play some board games, and chillllll.
Saturday: Fire up the griddle for pancakes, then head out for ice fishing, skating on Riding Mountain’s trails, or tobogganing down the Smokey Hollow hill. Keep a bonfire going all afternoon and into the night. Add in a spa visit to Klar So Spa for anyone wanting a slower pace, then cap off the evening with a catered group meal.
Sunday: Start with strong coffee and one last sauna steam before packing up. Head home while texting the group chat about which weekend to book the next group getaway:)
